Name: Lacie Lu
Thank you is far too simple to say for what you’ve done for us, so you better sit down and grab some tissues. You are a blessing and a miracle worker. You gave us the most perfect princess to add to our family. If not for you and Yorkie Haven Rescue, who knows what Lacie’s fate would have been. I’m quite sure that in all of the adoptions you have done, you have made hundreds of people happy. But I’m also very confident when I say that no one can be as grateful to you as Pat and I (and our other furbabies, Harley and Cooper) for allowing us to add Lacie to our home and complete our family. I know that bringing these babies into your home to find them their forever homes can be very exhausting. You and all of the Yorkie Haven members do it with grace, pride and give 100% of yourselves to these animals who might otherwise never have a second chance. Lacie loves you for this and so do we. May God Bless you, Linda, the way you’ve blessed us. Lacie has a few words for the person(s) who turned her over to animal control to die. "Dear People: Thanks for being too lazy and stupid to potty train me and research a particular breed before getting a dog. Thanks for letting my barking (what did you think dogs do) get on your nerves. Don’t worry though, I’m too sweet to hold a grudge, because if it weren’t for your cold heart(s), I would not have met my foster mom/first mom who introduced me to my forever home. Have a nice life – Because I know I will now.
Name: Mikki
I have always been an animal person, but always had cats as companions. Years ago, my life partner, Patrick and his then wife, came upon a small yorkie, "Brandon." They lived together for 7 years and decided to divorce. Once the divorce was final, the ex wife started seeing a new man, who wasn't a dog person, and didn't like Brandon. When the ex wife no longer wanted Brandon, (how could she not after so many years?) Patrick flew back to Lousiana, and drove back across the country with Brandon. He came to live with us and our 2 other larger dogs (also rescues) and found the happiness and love he needed. Brandon and I became very close, and bonded in a special way as Patrick traveled alot for his business. I had never had a small dog, and knew not what to expect. Brandon was frail and emotionally dependent. He shook alot and whined, and I couldn't understand why. I picked him up and held him close, which pissed my 19 year old cat off very much, but I explained that he was another soul who needed a place to live where people loved him, just like she did. Hunney, the cat, never took to Brandon, but she allowed him to spend as much time as he needed with me. Much to my surprise, I fell in love with Brandon. I had never had another being depend so much on me for everything...or who gave back as much. As Brandon got older, he became incontinent (peeing only), so I designed a diaper for him made with a special cut from newborn human baby diapers. He spent many years with us happily. When he approached 17 years of age, his health began to decline. He survived bladder stones and the accompanying surgery. He blew out his left knee, and we had it reconstructed. He then formed tumorous growths under his jaw line and we knew he was getting ready for checkout. We decided not to put him through the grueling chemo treatments. Our vet agreed. I must say that as Brandon became more and more frail, his personality became more prevalent and his demeanor more peaceful. Even though I was racing around keeping his diaper clean, wiping him off after poops, and seeing to his every need, I realized that I loved him even more than I ever thought possible. His condition worsened and we decided to help him out...as it were. His transition was extremely painful for us, and it took 2 shots to complete his transition. Even though he knew his body had given out, and we knew it too, he didn't want to leave us. I covered his eyes and put our hands on his little body as the last hearbeat made itself clear. I am not ashamed to say, I was devastated. Never had I felt loss to such a great degree. I didn't know what to do with myself for two months afterward. One night, in the wee hours, I couldn't take missing him so much, and decided to search the web for any Yorkies out there that may need love. I came upon Yorkie Haven Rescue, and Linda Freedman. From the moment I laid eyes on the photo of "Mikki," I knew there was another being who needed love and could give the love that I missed and needed as well. His eyes said to me, "Come love me and I'll love you." I contacted Linda, and put things into motion. It all worked out, as I feel it was meant to, and I flew out to Houston to get Mikki on Labor Day 2006. We just celebrated his 1 year anniversary and both he and I are blissfully happy. He is with me 24/7. I take him to work with me in my optical shop every day, where he has become the Big Charmer. I call him lovingly, Mikki the closer. In the last year, I have seen him go from a shy, skiddish type to a very outgoing, gregarious lover. He greets everybody with a copious amount of kisses, and is insistent on being on your lap. I have had many animals in my life, and they are all unique. But Mikki is a very special little guy, who keeps my mood and temperment in check and always has a basket full of kisses for me each morning. I am happier than I ever thought possible. We have three other rescue dogs, all around 55 pounds, and Mikki rules them all. I flew American Airlines back to California, with Mikki in a carrier. 10 minutes into the trip, it was clear he did not like being in the carrier. I asked the flight attendant if it was OK totake my little dog out for some air. Her reaction was like she had just seen a human baby. She picked him up, held him and nuzzled him. She then got all the other flight attendants to come see him. They gushed over him, and all of a sudden, it's like a baby shower. They allowed me to move to the back row, where there was more room and Mikki could stay out of the carrier the whole way home. We enjoyed the attention, and I was blown away with seeing how people reacted to him. Little did I know that he is magic, and everybody who sees him immediately loves him. Every now and then, I see Brandon out of the corner of my eye, and I know he is pleased. I think he may have even helped in Mikki and I finding each other. I cannot say enough great things about Yorkie Haven Rescue or Linda Freedman. So many rescue situations are rife with poor hygiene, and miserable dogs in crates, and weird energy. Linda's Houston operation is a most delightful space for dogs and humans. She has a great spirit and her ebullience is only surpassed by her ability to love. Any dog that finds its way to Linda, is a lucky one who's life is about to change in ways they could never conceive. I am available for comment at: Patrickfas@aol.com Sincerely, Patrick Fasano
Name: Tanner
Our family is so blessed to have met Robin. She is truly a wonderful person and she introduced us to Yorkie Haven. I am so thrilled to have Tanner. He has been a constant companion and brings joy to our family. He truly brings sunshine into our lives.
Name: Ruby
Ruby is doing great! She loves being outside, which keeps me outside a lot. She sleeps with us or on a pillow by the bed. She is a wonderful little bed partner because I think she does not move all night. She definitely loves her human Mom and Dad and follows us everywhere. I know you must miss her...she is such a sweetheart! Bo is sure that somehow she got lost...nobody could have deliberately abandoned her... --What a great little dog! Thanks so much for bringing her into our lives!
Name: Andy
We love Andy soooooo much and he is such a joy to us. He loves going to the beach and walking at the ocean and even riding in our little boat! He sits on my lap most days while I work on the computer and he really likes certain sites and sounds from it - I think he wants to work on it too! He loves riding in the car and when not on my lap loves to lay in his new car seat. But our most favorite thing is just laying with him in the evenings, playing and boy does he love to get in bed - he sleeps like a rock all night snuggled to us! Thank you again for him - he is such a wonderful boy and we love him so much.
Name: Lucy & Bella
Thanks so much to Anne, Linda, and Tina, and everyone at Yorkie Haven Rescue. When I lost my precious Libby last December, my heart was broken. She filled a part of my soul and heart that no other could. And when she left a part of me went with her. I had been looking at yorkie rescue sites before, because of Libby, I fell in love with this little furry breed. It was a couple of months before I thought I could bring another yorkie into my life. And it was at Yorkie Haven Rescue, thru Tina and little Ruby to Anne...I found Lucy aka Tinkerbell. And coming to Dallas and meeting all the wonderful little pups at Carly's Castle where I found Bella aka Macy...her little face was THE face for me. Lucy Goosey is the cut-up, the mischief maker, the little fur ball of joy, who loves life and brings life's joy to us. Bella Mia is the quiet sweetheart, who loves to be cuddled and wants to be snuggled and held, but can hold her own with the Goose and chases her around the house to play. We live in Utah, where they are just getting used to the snow. They love to travel to Oregon where they love to go to the beach, where Lucy can run as fast as she wants, round and round she goes...and Bella becomes the hunter of sandcrabs, digging and digging for them. They love to travel anywhere and wherever we go. They love to meet people and have so much fun at the nursing home where the residents love to greet them. Once I had a small child who had just met Bella say to me..."If your dog should get lost, then I'll bring her home tomorrow." Bella is the belle of the ball!! We so love these little dogs and are so grateful to Anne and the whole Yorkie Haven Rescue crew! You guys are the best and do a super wonderful job! Thanks for letting us have these little pups in our lives!
Name: Coby
Coby is so happy to have a wonderful forever family! He not only has two great dads, but two great fur-brothers too (Max the Yorkie, and Scottie the Westie). We believe Coby is a Yorkie-Westie mix, so his new home seemed made-to-order for Coby to fit right in. Max and Scottie take turns running and playing with Coby. Coby has enough energy to keep them both busy all day. Coby enjoys going on errands with his dads, and they say Coby is a big hit where ever he goes! Coby's family said they are very happy to have him as part of their family!
Name: Allie
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that we are totally in love with Allie. She has fit into our family so well! She was rather timid for the first two days until she decided that this was a good place. Now she is just a very happy girl. She loves to run around our backyard with Wrigley and Tuffy. They take turns chasing one another - I call it the zoomies. She watched the boys and does what they do, especially chasing birds and squirrels. When she runs she sort of hops up on all fours with joy. That's the only way to describe it. She is such a gentle girl and really well behaved inside -- only one "mistake" and it happened on the puppy pad, that's it! She also loves all our squeaky toys and Nyla bones for chewing. Our vet has seen her and says Allie is in great health. Her spaying surgery has healed well and the irritation on her legs is completely gone. Bob and I really love her. She's a cuddler and she loves to sleep with us at night. It's a little crowded in there with all 3 pups but we don't care. I am so happy and I can tell Allie is too. Thank you all so much for the wonderful work you do. Please tell Sandy and Robin that this turned out to be a perfect match. We will love Allie forever. Donna
Name: KiKi
Thank you to Linda and Yorkie Haven Rescue for bringing another Angel into our lives. Our first Yorkie Angel was a gift to us from a colleague at the elementary school where I was teaching and I am convinced that she was a gift from God just as KiKi is. It is my belief that all of these babies are Angels put here on earth to bring us joy and enrich our lives as nothing else can. We were so devastated when our first Yorkie Angel Itsy was taken from us eight years ago. We know that no other Yorkie can replace our first Angel because they are all so unique in their own special way. However, after three months of emptiness we brought another Yorkie Angel into our lives by the name of Sassy and she has brought us untold happiness and joy. We are determined not let that kind of emptiness enter our lives again. So we decided that we needed to get two new sisters for Sassy. We want to space them out in age so that we have at least one Angel with us at all times. KiKi is the first of two new sisters for Sassy. She is four years younger than Sassy and we want the next one to be a baby. KiKi is adjusting very well and we love her very much. After six different homes, she already knows that this is where she belongs forever and she is determined to protect it. KiKi knew the night Linda brought her to the house that this was her forever home when she picked us out to be her new Mommy and Daddy. She and her new sister Sassy are still trying to decide the pecking order of things. The girls are getting along well but are still adjusting to one another. Sassy says that KiKi has to stop putting king’s X on all of the puppy beds around the house and leave her at least one to lounge in. KiKi wants to tell her first, second, and third Mom and Dad that they wouldn’t know a good thing if jump up and bit them and her new Mom is sure glad about that. Kiki is a real lover and snuggler. She would let Mom and Dad pet her until their arm falls off, and that is ok with us. She is finally where she belongs. Thank you again Linda and Yorkie Haven Rescue we will be forever be in your debt! This is another story that ends with happy ever after!
Name: Benji
BENJI........ The story so far... Well day one started with the journey from my foster parents to my new home in Katy, not too bad I got to wear a new collar, try out a new lead and meet my new older Brother Charlie (A full Pedigree Yorkie from England, age 8) hope I meet his expectations, because he's been looking for a younger play mate for some time now, and he chose me over all the other dogs on the internet, now that's what I call pressure. I decided to give him a greeting kiss and go with the flow. Things started to look good when I arrived at my new home, wow what a yard and look at all of them toys, I decided to check them all out at once like you do, show my new brother just what I could do. Everything was going just fine until I ran out on to the blue grass, that's right, the blue grass, you guessed it the POOL!. OK so I can swim just fine, Charlie looked at me as if to say Oh brother; what have they fetched me here to play with. So they introduced me to the hair dryer, shampoo and this thing called a grooming brush! Not so sure if I like that. Slept well that night on the end of my new mums bed..... that's right "mum".... she's English. Day 2...... Went for a walk after eating dinner... got my own bowl, the foods great, That walking on a leash is real fun, but boy its tiring, decided to try out my new bed with Charlie in our own bedroom... not bad.. Woke up early, decided to try the base boards before breakfast, they taste rather dry, but there rather Moorish. Day 3..... Day 5 ... Week 1..... Week 2...... Oh you still there! Having a great time! Met my new vet she's nice gives me treats and hugs, but not as good as those I get from Mum and my older sister. Must admit the new toys are better than the base boards, but can't stop eating them. My new dad keeps following me around and repairing them. I found it best to just role over and play tummy rub, don't know it helps but it sure does make him laugh. They say they wouldn't have it any other way, me neither, life here is great! My new parents say I have landed in the land of milk and honey, not sure where that is but I can recommend it!! Love and hugs BENJI...
